My approach is integrative, humanistic and holistic. Humanistic counsellors work with a person’s whole experience rather than giving a singular importance to thinking, feeling or behaviour. | Services: | Question: What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Answer: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works by challenging client's attitudes to life and the behaviour that stems from it. The CBT therapist works together with the client on modifying their beliefs, thoughts and attitudes (cognitions) to improve their behaviour and emotional outcome. Question: What can Cognitive Behavioural Therapy treat? Answer: CBT has proved to be highly effective for issues such as: anxiety management, depression, phobias, self confidence, to stop smoking, irritable bowel syndrome, stress management, panic attacks, self esteem, anger management, assertiveness training, driving tests, blushing, weight issues, nail biting, substance abuse, sleep disorders, allergies, amongst many more. Question: Where is your private practice based? Answer: I have two private practices based in both Egham and Hounslow. My Egham private practice is located at 164 Egham High Street TW20 9HP within two minutes walking distance from Egham Train Station and my Hounslow private practice is based in Bell Road Hounslow TW3 3NX within five minutes walking distance from Hounslow Train Station. Both locations offer free car parking. Question: Do you combine any other forms of therapy with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT)? Answer: Certainly when appropriate. I am also qualified in both Clinical Hypnotherapy and Crisis, Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Counselling. Question: Is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy a type of counselling? Answer: There are many forms of talking therapys and CBT in recent clinical trials has proved overall to be the most affective. Question: Does Cognitive Behahavioural Therapy work as well in group sessions and couples counselling? Answer: I use CBT in both settings in my private practice and on home visits. Family and friends are welcome to sit in if my client wishes. Question: How many Cognitive Behavioural Therapy sessions will I need? Answer: CBT is usually a short term process with clients seeing significant improvements or overcoming their problem completely within six to ten hours of CBT. However the duration of therapy sessions may vary on the severity of the problem and if there is more than one issue involved. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can be flexible as to the duration between sessions, allowing the client to work on and perfect the techniques learnt and to use them in day to day living. Question: Why is homework so important in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Answer: CBT is a problem focused therapy with the client and therapist working together on techniques specifically tailored to the client's ongoing problem. It is very important that the client uses the skills and techniques that have been developed during therapy in real life situations. These will then be explored in the next session with the Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. Question: What techniques are employed in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Answer: Varied techniques are used by a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and are tailored to the particular needs of the client. Some examples of CBT techniques are: challenging negative thoughts, relaxation therapy, flooding and using a daily mood log. |

The Wellbeing Centre has achieved the correct balance: it provides a professional atmosphere without being cold or clinical, and the warm homely feel of the original house has been honoured. We have a small courtyard Garden where everyone can come in and relax in the tranquil space before or after a treatment. We offer this space for having a coffee, a quiet read or even holding small workshops or meetings. We are keen to create a friendly and supportive environment, not just for our clients, but also where our therapists can share ideas and continue developing professionally. There is a team feel to the operation of The Centre, which is totally client-focused.
